Angola
– Angolan oil production exceeds 1.9 million barrels per day in February, the highest level since January 2007. http://www.macauhub.com.mo
– Angola managed to briefly overtake Nigeria as Africa’s leading oil producer last year and is now thinking in global terms. The national oil company Sonangol is acquiring stakes in oil and gas projects across the globe and re-investing its profits in up-market real estate projects via its subsidiary China Sonangol.
– The chairman of Sonangol, Manuel Vicente, was appointed in mid-December to the political bureau of the ruling MPLA.
– Angola’s energy minister has so many electricity projects in various stages of development that the end result could well be a surplus allowing for the country to export power.

Mozambique
– France pardons Mozambique’s debts of 18.9 million euro and signs new agreements for 76 million euro for development projects. http://www.macauhub.com.mo

Cape Verde
Portuguese construction group Mota-Engil plans to increase turnover in Cape Verde six-fold in three years from 20 million euros to 120 million.
